Outstanding Volunteer Awards

The 300 Committee bestowed three awards for outstanding volunteer service at its annual meeting on July 11.

Mike Duffany, a 300 Committee board member and owner of M. Duffany Builders, won the land trust’s Leadership Award for his critical role in negotiating a pending deal to buy 56 acres of woodland in North Falmouth, and also for lending his building expertise during the renovation of The 300 Committee's new headquarters on Thomas B. Landers Road.

Jeff Hamilton, owner of Hamilton Tree and Landscape, received the Mel Miller Stewardship Award in grateful recognition of his 12 years of volunteer service mowing the streetscape grass at Teaticket Park.

Dick Payne, a retired oceanographer, won the Invaluable Volunteer award for decades of service to The 300 Committee. His many contributions include leading an effort to remove invasive phragmites from conservation lands throughout Falmouth, blazing portions of the northern Moraine Trail, serving on the land trust’s board of directors, keenly monitoring properties for our annual records, and advocating for the role land conservation plays in mitigating climate change.
