Alexandra Zollo, The 300 Committee's Director of Stewardship and Community Engagement for the past seven years, has accepted the position of Executive Director of the Wareham Land Trust. Her last day as Stewardship Director will be September 6.

"We will miss Alex greatly," said Jessica Whritenour, The 300 Committee's Executive Director. "But this is a great career opportunity for her, and her advancement to the Executive Director role in Wareham means she'll still be a leader in land conservation in Southeastern Massachusetts."

The 300 Committee has appointed Will Poirier, a former 300 Committee TerraCorps service member, as interim Stewardship Director.

"Will already knows The 300 Committee's lands and community well," Jessica said. "It feels like divine timing that he was able to jump into this role just when we needed someone."

Alex's many accomplishments as Stewardship Director include incorporating climate science into The 300 Committee's land management practices and implementing Landscape, a land conservation software that coordinates all of The 300 Committee's stewardship and monitoring work. She also introduced regular Thursday morning "coffee clean-ups," where volunteers come together to drink a cup of coffee and enjoy each other's company while tackling various projects, such as invasive species removal, erosion control and trail blazing.

Alex shares this farewell message with 300 Committee staff, members and volunteers:

When I began with The 300 Committee a little over seven years ago, the organization was ramping up operations. We have since increased our stewardship support by adding our TerraCorps service members. We have a beautiful new headquarters, and our team has increased from 3 to 7. We have learned, taught, and incorporated management practices with an eye toward climate change and resiliency. We have lost people, gained people, been through lock downs and surgeries. And through it all, there has been the land, our community, and maybe some coffee.

As I transition to the role of Executive Director for Wareham Land Trust, I am incredibly proud of all we have accomplished together. I look forward to incorporating much of what I have learned from my coworkers and our volunteers, whom I count as mentors and friends. This organization has played a pivotal role in shaping the foundations of my career in conservation, and I am thankful for the opportunities it has afforded me. It is with great fondness that I will cheer for all that will continue to be done for the special place that is Falmouth. The 300 Committee—a force of nature.
